Memnia was born in Larnaca, Cyprus, where her love for the sea began.  At 18, she left Cyprus to go to Greece, where she pursued Dentistry at Aristotle University in Thessaloniki. She thereafter built her dental career in the UK, with a special interest in Aesthetic Dentistry and Facial Aesthetics.

In need of a break from her career and an adventure, she signed up for an international sailing event, ‘Clipper Round the World Yacht Race’. The ultimate purpose of the race is for the 12 identical boats, manned by amateur sailors and led by professional skippers, to complete a circumnavigation of the earth, going through some of the most treacherous weather systems and isolated areas of the planet, in 11 months.

While Memnia had originally only signed up for the first leg of the race, crossing the Atlantic, travelling from London to Rio de Janeiro, during the crossing, she fell in love with the sport and the sea, so she kept signing up for more legs. She continued sailing to Cape Town, Albany, Sydney, Hobart, till she reached Airlie Beach, Australia, her final destination. She has covered over 18 000nM, becoming the first Cypriot woman to have sailed from the UK to Australia on a racing sailing boat.

Today, Memnia splits her time between England and Cyprus, combining Dentistry with her love of adventurous activities, including sailing, scuba diving, trekking. She also has a keen interest and is involved in various charities for people with disabilities.
